KS1 Computing

Our KS1 Computing tutoring aims to engage students with hands-on, age-appropriate activities that build their understanding of technology and its applications. The program covers:

Digital Literacy:
Helping students become familiar with basic digital devices and applications. They will learn how to use a computer or tablet confidently, including opening programs, navigating simple interfaces, and using a mouse or touchscreen effectively.

Programming and Algorithms:
Introducing young learners to the basics of coding and simple problem-solving through interactive games and activities. Students will explore how to give instructions (algorithms) and understand how these instructions can be followed by a computer or robot.

Data and Information:
Teaching children to understand and organize data using simple charts, pictures, and graphs. Students will also learn how to sort information and understand the concept of storing and retrieving data in a digital environment.

Online Safety:
Promoting safe and responsible use of technology, teaching children how to stay safe online. This includes understanding the importance of privacy, keeping personal information secure, and knowing what to do if they come across something upsetting or inappropriate online.

Digital Creativity:
Encouraging creativity by using digital tools to make drawings, animations, or simple videos. Students will explore ways to express themselves creatively through technology, from creating digital art to developing basic multimedia projects.

Technology in the World:
Helping students understand how technology impacts their everyday lives. They will learn about the different types of technology they use at home, at school, and in the wider world, and how these devices and systems work together.
